  1. I remember Colin as a man who could be counted on especially in the back country. He was blessed with a very dry sense of humor which he used at the most appropriate moments. He will be missed.

Many days were spent with Colin, in high school, working on a seismic crew, vacationing in the Okanagan, playing football on Sunday afternoons in the field behind Frank Buckley’s house. Taking a pass and pulling a spinerama on Dan Skoda. He was good friend with a great sense of humour. My thoughts are with his family. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.

I was a customer at Trattner Optical for several years. Colin was truly a sweet and kind fellow, always with a little twinkle in his eyes. My daughter and I were very fond of him, always commenting after leaving the store, what a sweetheart he was. Trattner will never be the same without him. A great loss for everyone. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad loss.

Greg, we are so sorry to hear about your Dad. We were your neighbors, our daughter Michelle babysat you after school for a while and we were clients of Colin’s at Trattner optical. We always enjoyed our trips to the store to find out what he was up to and hearing about you. May the good memories over the years help you through this tough time.

  9. Andy and Donna Krebes :

We have known Colin over forty two of his all too brief fifty three years on this earth. His Dad, Geza, seemed pleased that his second son was going to join him as an optician and hence allow the business to continue once he could no longer handle the workload. From all appearances they worked well together and it would have been devastating had his parents had ever known that their son did not have a long life ahead of him. When the business had to close as Colin waited for a donor liver we had many of his customers distraught that they were without the attention that they had received from such a long standing family-run business. Our condolences to Michael, Hillary, Geoff and his son Gregory.

I was a loyal Trattiner Optical customer, and I will greatly miss it. The day I saw that it’s doors were closed was a sad one for me – I’ve never felt such care and kindness in a business before, and I know many people who felt the same way. My condolences to all who knew Colin. He must have been a remarkable person.
