December 15, 1948 – August 9, 2012
Patricia Ann Tracey passed away peacefully – but fighting until the end – on Thursday, August 9, 2012. While Pat struggled with her health, her death was sudden. She was supported through her last hours by her son, Scott, daughter, Valerie and sister, Lynn.
Pat (or Patsy as she was known to family and friends) was born in Montreal on December 15, 1948, one of five children to Pat and Pearl. Patsy grew up in Verdun and Pierrefonds with her four siblings, Lynn (Richard), Diane (Mike), Mike (Josie) and Mark (Carolyn). Growing up, Patsy and her siblings together learned how to be the life of any party and the hardest workers in the room and, most importantly, the power of laughter.
Patsy charted her own course in life. She started out her career in Montreal at Bell Canada and later became a highly successful real estate agent in Calgary. Pat loved the thrill of closing a deal and, perhaps more, the people she met and the fun she had along the way.
Pat’s greatest joy in life was to love and spend time with her children, Valerie (Matt) and Scott (Amy), and to be Grandma Tipper to her grandchildren Chris and Noah.
She shared a special bond with her aunt and friend, Joyce.
She loved travel to warm places, any piano bar in any city, the song “My Way”, the casino, pulling together a great outfit and a good negotiation. And she loved all of the above, even more, if she was in the company of her children, grandchildren and family.
In the past two years she has been supported by the kind staff at Carewest Sarcee.
Pat’s family will host a visitation at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Sunday, August 12, 2012 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. with a reception to follow at Scott’s home. Those looking for details about the reception can contact the family at valerie_jepson@yahoo.ca. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
In lieu of flowers, Pat’s family has a special request. In memory of Pat, cross your fingers and buy yourself a lottery ticket or take a trip to your favourite casino (Pat assumed we all had one of those!) and if you have time, let us know about the fun you had.
The family is grateful for the compassion and care received from the nurses, RTs and doctors at Foothills Medical Centre, and Carewest Sarcee.
In living memory of Patricia Tracey, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.
Offer Condolence for the family of TRACEY, Patricia Ann

We were saddened to learn of the loss of Patricia. To us, she will always be near our hearts. When we were starting out as a young couple, Pat, was instrumental in one of the most important memories of our lives together – our first home. Pat helped with every part of the process and made this special memory even more treasured. Patricia will always have a special place in our hearts for what she did for us lovingly and selflessly.
We say a special prayer for Pat’s family, her brothers and sisters, her children and grandchildren. The world is a poorer place without Patricia here, but we are all richer for knowing Pat.
God bless.
Bruce and Pamela Curlock

I’m so saddened by the death of Pat. We only got to know her two short years at Sarcee, but I found her to be a highly intelligent and kind person. Valerie and Scott, you two were the most amazingly supportive and loving kids throughout your mom’s struggles and I respect both of you. She did a fantastic job making you who you are today! With respect, Jennifer Cummings, Pain and Palliative care nurse consultant, Carewest

Dear Val, Scott, Lynn, Michael, Mark, Auntie Joyce, and extended families….I’d like to offer my heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Walsh Family and myself!
Patsy’s and my friendship extended over a 50 + years span…a little longer than Pearl’s & Gussie’s, from which it stemmed! We shared a lot over the years, especially laughter! I’ll miss you, my friend! Get the party started…!
I’m a high school friend of Patsy’s and haven’t seen her in about 45 years. She was a character and always smiling. I wish all the best to her children and siblings. I moved back to Montreal 4 years ago. I will go to St. Thomas More church today at 5 and light a candle for Patsy. I’ll also buy a lotto ticket.
Dear Valerie, Scott, Lynn, Mike and Mark, I am so sad and heart broken. It’s hard to believe Patsy and I will no longer have our little telephone chats. I have so many memories and in time the happier ones will come. Be strong, all my love

Dear Lynn, Mike, Mark, Scott & Valerie
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Patsy. Although I had not seen her for quite a few years, (Last time was on the beach at Lake MacDonald). As long as I knew her she always had a smile and had the ability to make everyone laugh. Although she is gone her memory will always be with you.
Val,
Your mother sounds like a neat lady! I see now where you get your drive and amibition from. I didn’t realize your mom had been a real estate agent who enjoyed the thrill of a good negotation. Just like you.
I hope the memorial service was a fitting celebration of her life. I’m sorry we weren’t able to attend.
Please know that you have the support of many friends who think the world of you.
See you when you get back.
Love Ali
Dear Valerie, Scott, Lynn, Mike and Mark.

On behalf of the Howard family, our deepest sympathy goes out to Patsy’s family. I was the fortunate one who got to go to school with her and share our early teenage years up at Lake MacDonald (along with Terry Walsh). Patsy was always full of laughter and so much fun to hang out with. She will certainly be missed.
