TOTH, Joseph (Joe) Leslie

November 17, 1957 – Calgary, Alberta
February 15, 2015 – Calgary, Alberta

Joe Toth, beloved husband of Christine Toth of Calgary, passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the age of 57 years.

Joe was a loving son, brother, husband, father and friend to many.
He was born in Calgary and raised by Hungarian parents who taught him the love for culture, food and a strong work ethic.

He had a zest for life and lived every moment to the fullest. Joe created a successful business which spanned over 33 years where he engineered and built many beautiful and unique jewellery pieces. His philosophy in business was reflected by the quote that hung in his shop, “The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten”.
Joe loved spending time with family and friends whether on vacations, ski trips or casual dinners. His love of travelling took him to many places in the world which he shared with his family and friends. Through his travels, Joe developed an appreciation for fine wine and became an avid wine collector.
He enjoyed good food and had a real flair for barbequing which was always accompanied with a nice cold beer and great bottle of wine. Joe acted as a successful General Contractor where he built two homes for his family and completed many renovations throughout the years.

Joe was known for his loyalty, honesty and humor but above all he will be remembered for being an upstanding and courageous man.
We will all miss you Joe, you were a good guy. We love you.

Besides his loving wife, Joe is survived by two daughters, Pam (Jaime) Clague and Camila Toth; mother, Roza Toth; brother, Charles Toth; sister, Elizabeth (Jeno) Szamoskozy and their families and the family pet Copper. He was predeceased by his father Charles Toth and the family pet Duke.

A Celebration of Joe’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through

  1. Gail (Ellwood) Benjamin :

To Chris, Pam and Camila, please accept my sincerest condolences for the loss of your husband and dad. I will always remember Joe as a great guy, for he made my beautiful, one of a kind, wedding ring. I always enjoyed seeing you and Joe and watching the girls grow from year to year when you came to pick raspberries in my back yard and all the good times spent at Trents. I will miss Joe and I will think of you often as you move through your grief and reconcile his loss into a life without him . My heart is with you. Gail

  2. Joseph will be missed by so many. When he would come by to pick up work we had for him, he would always make me laugh by saying, “I’ll bring it back when it’s done, now stop bugging me”. Joe knew so much about his city and shared great memories of growing up in Calgary. I will miss you very much Joseph.

  5. Leonard V.A. Smith :

Through Charles, my best friend right through grade school, we met Joseph. While we didn’t spend a lot of time together my wife and I came to know him as a stand-up guy and had occasion about a year ago to use his services as an appraiser. We found him to be direct, cordial and courteous. A very well-educated man. We wish to extend our sincere condolences to his wife and family, to his mother Roza, and to my dear friend Charles. We cannot be with you in Calgary, but our thoughts will.

  10. Dale & Monika Rossi :

Our friend Joe will be missed dearly. Our condolences, and thoughts and prayers go out to Chris, Pam, and Camila. Joe was a great friend, we had some great times together, and we are so fortunate to have had our wedding rings made by Joe. We have a constant reminder of him. Also I have 2 truck loads of fire wood on the side of our house which Joe brought and split for us. He was a great friend, taught us about fine wine, showed us the chucks in Strathmore from a different vantage point, and on and on. Lots of great memories. We will never forget you Joe, and your legacy will live on in your beautiful daughters who you and Chris have brought up so well.

    God Bless,
    Dale & Monika
