May 21, 1955 – April 29, 2012
Mae Torres passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at the age of 55 as her family held her hand until the last breath. A loving mother and wife; she will be missed by many.
Mae was born in Bamban, Tarlac Philippines in 1956. Her family moved to Mabalacat, Pampanga Philippines where she fell in love with Mario and were married by 1986. In June 1987, their first and only daughter, Mitz was born. Mae and Mario raised their daughter in the United Arab Emirates for 13 years and then immigrated to Canada in 2003. She enjoyed cooking and learning new recipes and was infamous for her pancit, baked mac, and lasagna. She loved travelling to different places and found serenity and beauty in Mother Nature. She took pride in helping others during their time of need. She had met many different people who became her friends. She effortlessly made people laugh. Her laugh was infectious; a jokester- one of her many attributes. Mae’s strength and faith was extraordinary when she survived breast cancer in 2009. The world lost one of the most beautiful, strongest, and purest hearts God made for this earth. Mae will surely be missed by every life she touched all over the world.
Mae is survived by her husband of twenty five years Mario and their only daughter Mitz. She is also survived by her sisters Flor Torres and Lorna Paras. She was predeceased by her father Guillermo Manuel and her mother Anicia Manuel.
‘The lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; My god is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.’ – Psalm 18:2
