TOGSTAD, Frank Andrew

June 8, 1952 – Calgary, Alberta
May 15, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta

Frank Togstad, beloved husband of Jean Togstad (nee Grant), passed away suddenly in the early morning of Monday, May 15, 2017 at the age of 64 years.

Also left behind to mourn are sons Jacob, Lucas, and Micah; his sister and brother in law Laura and Doug Baxter their family Nathan and Sky and new daughter Indigo, and Anne and Jarod; a very large extended family, as well as so very many friends.

Frank grew up on the family farm in the Crossfield/Beiseker area and received an Engineering Degree from the University of Calgary after graduating high school in Airdrie. He enjoyed working as an engineer in the oil and gas sector, building gas plants for many years, but his first love was always farming. Frank put his knowledge and creativity from both careers to good use, creating, inventing, proudly holding several patents.

Frank married later in his life, apparently a bit of a “family tradition.” He was very proud of his three sons and their accomplishments; he loved watching them play sports and was their biggest fan. Frank enjoyed all sports, but had a particular fondness for baseball and played on various teams throughout the years.

Frank made an extraordinary number of friends during his time on Earth, and loved nothing more than visiting in a crowd over a beer or a martini. He will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank the Emergency Staff at the Foothills Medical Centre, in particular, Dr. Jeffrey Shaw for their care and compassion.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 6:00p.m. to 8:30p.m.

A Celebration of Frank’s Life will be held at the Crossfield and District Community Centre (900 Mountain Avenue, Crossfield, AB T0M 0S0) on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 1:00p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Crossfield Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Community Centre. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Frank Togstad, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, Telephone: 403-276-2296.

Offer Condolence for the family of TOGSTAD, Frank Andrew

  23. Adam Castle :

I’m quite close with Lucas and Jacob, and I’m so truly sorry about what had to happen… I’m deeply sad for this family, and if the togstads are reading this, you’ll get through this, and you’re all very strong. I’m very happy I got to meet the togstads, over school, sports and other events. I pray for this family and will until the pain is no more. I can’t imagine what it would be like for this tragic occurrence to take place with such a great family. He may be no more on this earth, yet I know he will stay deep in all of the togstads hearts forever. I hope that the togstads can make their way through this unbearably rough patch in all their lives, and know that he’s safe and happy. When I heard about the tragedy, I was stunned. Absolutely hit with such emotion, which I can’t imagine the pain all the togstads are going through, I pray that the togstads can come to peace with this horrific occurrence. I would like to wish the togstads luck and send my love and help. You’re a strong, amazing, faithful and preserving family that will get through this… I’m sorry and was honoured to pay my respects.

    Sincerely,

    Adam Castle

Jean, Jacob, Lucas and Micah. We were very shocked to hear this very sad news. Frank was a great guy and I enjoyed all the discussions that we had either over a beer or a dinner. I can see Frank working St. Peter’s farm in heaven and still complaining “Even up here we still can’t get enough rain”.
