THOMSON, Robert Antony Adam

April 15, 1934 – November 18, 2012

Robert (Bob) A. A. Thomson passed away, in Calgary, on November 18, 2012 at the age of 78 years.

He was born in Lusaka, Zambia (Northern Rhodesia) in 1934 and lived in South Africa, Namibia, and Fiji before heading to Edinburgh, where he attended George Watson’s Boys College and the University of Edinburgh. He served in the British Army (Seaforth Highlanders) at Fort George. After military service and a brief period living in York, he spent time in Rotterdam taking industrial training before heading to the Emirates, where he worked for three years. Bob came to Canada from Bahrain in 1958. He married Catherine Elizabeth (Betty) Wilson in Sept 1959 in Edmonton.

Robert is survived by wife Betty, son Jim of Victoria, and grandsons Brendan and Connor also of Victoria.

He is predeceased by his daughter Alison Thomson.
