THOMPSON, Patricia Bethel

January 9, 1945 – April 19, 2013

Patricia Thompson, beloved wife of Dan of Calgary, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, April 19th 2013 at the age of 68 years.

Pat was born in Chapleau, Ontario to Claude and Ethel Bergin. The family moved to Alberta when Pat and her sister, Karen, were young. Pat excelled in school, skipping several grades and helping Dan along the way. She attended the University of Calgary and studied teaching. Pat and Dan married on June 21st, 1965. During the next several years, Pat followed Dan to his various oil jobs in Canada – British Columbia, Yukon, and Northern Alberta. They left Canada in the early seventies with their daughters, Andrea and Michelle. For the next 30 years, they worked and traveled in the United States and overseas, always welcoming those who came to visit. Pat’s home was a place that friends and neighbors could always find a listening ear and good advice. Pat bravely fought ovarian cancer for a year. She will be fondly remembered by all that knew her.

Pat is survived by her loving husband Dan; her daughters Andrea (Jon) Thompson and Michelle (Neil) Harrison; her beloved grandchildren Dryden Thompson-Bell and Duncan and Ketta Harrison; her sister Karen (Bob) Crowley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Those wishing to Celebrate Pat’s Life are welcomed to join with her family and friends at the Fensla Hall, Markerville, Alberta on Saturday, April 27 at 1:00 pm. Anyone wishing to share their stories and memories of Pat may do so at

In living memory of Pat Thompson, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park Cochrane by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot Chapel, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W. Telephone: (403) 241-0044.
