THOMPSON, Patricia Ann (née Reed)

June 30, 1937 – August 18, 2012

Patricia Thompson (Murphy) of Calgary, AB passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the age of 75. She was born in Trail, BC in 1937.

Patricia was the beloved wife of Gordon Thompson who died on May 3, 2012. She is survived by her sisters, Phyllis Barnes and Barbara Daoust, and predeceased by her brother, Jack Reed. Music was an important part of Pat’s life. She was an accomplished pianist, and in her youth, she played French horn for the Calgary Philharmonic. With family and friends, she passed summers on the shores of BC and Alberta lakes and spent many winter days skiing in the Rocky Mountains. Together, she and Gordon enjoyed curling and exercising at Westside. Earlier in her work life, Pat taught skating at several community centers. She then worked at the Calgary Convention Center and later at Calgary Health Services in the Home Care Division. Her intelligent, enduring wit and wonderful laugh will be greatly missed.

  3. I met Pat in 1992 when I went to work in Home Care. She had the gift of making everyone who came through the door at Home Care feel better. It didn’t matter if you were having a good day or a bad day, Pat would make you smile. She always had time for you. She had a great wit, as well as compassion and understanding. Pat, we will meet again at Reception in Heaven.

Events of this summer highlighted the importance of, not only her family, but of all the staff and friends from Home Care, Westside, her dental office and many others. Each one of you supported her with advice, friendship, and love. She ended her days knowing the full extent, value, and richness of the relationships she had in her life…..thanks to you all.

  6. We all loved Aunt Pat. Warm, kind, thoughtful and so very funny.
Its been years since I’ve thought of the time when Pat invited Darcelle and me to stay with her in Calgary when we were quite young. She made us feel very special – and so grown up!
And she was a beauty queen! I used to tell all my young friends that my aunt was a beauty queen. I was so proud.
    I will never forget her.
Much love to you, Shannon, Corin and Craig.
