THOMPSON, Dennis Edward

February 5, 1928 – Calgary, Alberta
July 18, 2013 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear friend Dennis who died on Thursday, July 18, 2013 in Calgary after a brief illness.

Dennis was born in Calgary on February 5, 1928 and was a resident of the city all his life. He was educated in the Calgary schools and graduated from the University of Alberta with a B.A. and a B.Ed degree.

He was a gifted teacher of English in both junior and senior high schools. He was honoured with a life membership in the English Council of the Alberta Teacher’s Association in recognition of his tireless work for the council.

Dennis’s passions were for his friends, his pet dogs and for the pets of his friends, for gardens and for his considerable collection of antiques.

Dennis is remembered by his friends as a suave and dignified man who had a great capacity for joy and friendship.

In keeping with Dennis’s wishes, there will be no service at this time. A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Dennis Thompson, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park Cochrane by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, Telephone: 403-276-2296.
