Thompson – Alan

In Memorial

August 24, 1937 – October 14, 2009

With broken hearts, we bade you farewell. Our gentle character that quietly absorbed so many adversities in life without complaint.

Your many talents were always unselfishly shared. Your creation of beautiful oil paintings with only family in mind will be treasured always. We loved your passion for sports in which you championed in diving and cycling, and your enthusiasm in assisting the Commonwealth Games and the 1988 Calgary Olympic Disabled Committee.

You leave behind your sons who loved you with so much compassion, Nigel (Angie) and Stephen (Deedra) and their families; grandsons, Sean (Kamilah) and Mark (Elesa); granddaughters, Christine (Joey) and Shannon (Jake); great-grandchildren, Dominic and Hailey; and sister Beryl who was a constant shadow of deep love and togetherness from birth. You will also be missed by Larraine, who blessed you with your children; Katie, a friend who shared so much love; and many other friends who admired your tenacity in overcoming so many obstacles. You now join your parents in the spirit world who have now welcomed you into their arms.

Thank you for so many precious memories and for sharing your life with us. You will remain in our hearts forever. God Bless.

No service will be held. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. We give our hearts to Nurse Hollie, and the staff of Unit 73 of the Rockyview Hospital whose attentive care and personality meant so much.

In living memory of Alan Thompson, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.

Bless you Alan for all the love and kindness of your heart and spirit. Such a soft man who faced all the adversities of life without complaint or remorse. You are with your mom and dad now and at peace – you will be missed on earth and your memory will live on in those whose love and respect you earned so graciously.

Beryl and family: We wish to express our condolences to all of you and we were saddened to hear of Alan’s passing. Though we knew yourself and your Mom and Dad very well we did not know Alan as personally. But from you, we knew of his challenges in life and how he overcame them. We also knew how loved he was and how he held a very special place in your hearts. There is absolutely no doubt in our minds how happy David and wee Norah were when their beloved son joined them. There is a jolly good party happening as we speak. God bless you all.
