Sadly, we say goodbye to a wonderful mom, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend. Irene passed away in the arms of her family after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s.
Irene was born and raised in Calgary, graduated from Western Canada High School, and went on to work for Canada Employment Services in the tax department. She met the love of her life in Banff and married in 1952. They lived in Calgary where they started their family, moved to Edmonton, then Winnipeg, and back to Calgary expanding their family along the way. Irene devoted her life to raising her five children and then returned to work in the library at St Francis High School and retired in 1986.
Irene was an active member of the CWL, Inn From the Cold, St. Vincent DePaul and never missed an opportunity to volunteer her time to helping others in need.
She loved to spend time at her family cabin on Lake Lillian where many fond memories were created, and in later years, spent the winters in Phoenix.
Irene is survived by her loving and devoted husband Clifford; sons, Brett, Craig (Debbie) and Cliff; and her daughters Karen and Lisa (Steve); brother-in-law Don Nicholson; and eight wonderful grandchildren, Jennifer, Theresa, Jeremy, Michael, Sarah, Joshua, Justin, and Devon.
