August 12, 1922 – April 23, 2013

The children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren sorrowfully announce the sudden passing of Peter Ternes on Tuesday, April 23, 2013.

The eldest of six children, Peter was born on August 12, 1922 in Beiseker, AB. Edna, the love of his life and wife of sixty-four years, passed away on July 6, 2008. Peter missed her terribly and talked about her every day. He was also so proud of each and every one of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and pictures were on display of each and every one of them in his small apartment at Scenic Acres Retirement Nursing Home.

Peter is survived by his daughter Glenna (Ron); son Rodney (Alice); four grandchildren, Tammy (Greg), Darcy, Cole and Thomas; and four great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Lexi Majeau; and Jaedon and Dylan Leslie. He is survived by a brother William (Elvira) and a sister Mary. Peter is also survived by special friends Jenny and Joe. He was predeceased by his brothers Max and Gerry; and a sister Edith.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (Corner of Northmount Drive & Northland Drive N.W.) on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. As per Peter’s wish, no flowers please. Condolences may be forwarded through If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

    I am saddened to hear of Peter’s death. He was my godfather. Our parents’ got to know each other when our father’s both worked at Beiseker Motors in the late 1940’s – beginning a life long friendship between the two couples, although Edna died in 2008 and we lost my father, Ernie, in 2010. My condolences to all the family.
