TEGART, Brian Neil

August 29, 1970 – July 10, 2012

Brian was born at the foothills hospital in Calgary on August 29, 1970 and bounced into the world weighing just over 9 pounds. He was dedicated at First Assembly Church in Calgary and Baptized at Gospel Centre Church in Edmonton after his family moved to St. Albert in 1978. Brian always had a million questions and absorbed information like a sponge. He loved and fiercely defended his two brothers, Blair and Bob and his faith. BMX biking, basketball, weight-lifting video games and wrestling with any puzzle he could get his hands on were his favorite activities. He loved to read form age 4 and was never far from a book. Brian graduated with Honors from Meadowlark Christian School in 1988 and was already dating the love of his life, Sandra Weigl, whom he joyfully married August 4, 1991. Choosing a career in Computer Programming he graduated from NAIT in the spring of 1992. His last job, with Fekete, was by far his favorite. Brian was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia in February 2011 and spent the last 4 months in Unit 57 at the Foothills hospital where he was so thankful and appreciative of the professional yet personal care he received.

Brian is survived by his wife Sandra; four children Brayden, Brianna, Coleman and Corwin; his Father and Mother Neil and Bev; two brothers and sister-in-law Blair, Bob and Sheri; niece Emmi; Grandmother Myrtle and Grandfather Girven.

Donations in Brian’s memory may be made to the Canadian Bible Society, 10 Carnforth Rd, Toronto, ON M4A 2S4 Telephone: 1-800-465-2425, or Operation Amigo, P.O. Box 9063, Sylvan Lake, AB T4S 1S6, to purchase computers for schools in Mexico.

  5. I was one of the many nurses who was incredibly privileged to have been involved in Brian’s care at the foothills. It was such a pleasure getting to know a man who remained so positive and pleasant, throughout it all. He spoke so highly of his wife and family, truly a kind and gentle spirit who will be missed by many.

  6. Doug & Patty Bittle :

    Dear Neil, Bev & family;

    It has been a number of years since the Lord placed us together in Spruce Grove and with a great many wonderful memories of that time, it was with a grieving heart we received the news of Brian’s passing. Physical parting on this side of heaven brings more grief than we think possible to bear, but in the midst of sorrow, what a strength & comfort to know the risen Savior and the assurance He gives us of life eternal. May the Great Comforter be your strength. Our prayers are with you (Romans 8:28-39).

  7. Ron & Sheryl Toothe :

    The celebration of Brian’s life last Friday, July 20, was an incredible tribute to Brian and it made, I’m sure, a large and indelible impression on everyone who attended. Everyone has a story to tell; everyone’s life is a story; and Brian’s story is a remarkable one. It was indeed a treat to hear Brian’s story and to learn of the many things that occupied Brian’s time and limitless energy. We learned things about Brian and the passions that he held so close to himself. We should be proud (and we are) to say that we knew him and that he was an outstanding member of our family. May God continue to bless Sandra and their children and may we honour Brian for who he was, what he did, and the amazing story he left for us.

  8. I think Brian managed to keep his online pals apart from those in his locale, but he was quite the soldier for Christ in standing for the truth concerning the Bible against those who concoct or purvey a false theory about it. Over at the Bible Versions Discussion Board, which he personally and singlehandedly founded, we’re proud of him and thank the Lord for what this His servant has done. May the same grace that helped Brian do exploits in the faith over the years be with his dear family till they meet again at Jesus’ feet.

  12. Hello, I know you have been talking with Robin but I wanted to tell you how sorry I am in your loss. How can it get any more painful than to lose a child. I pray somehow you can find some peace. It’s a hard journey. Love. Sylvia
