TAYLOR, Donald Ralph
October 18, 1938 – January 2, 2012
It is with great love and sadness that we say farewell to Don who passed away suddenly in Paphos, Cyprus.
Don will be lovingly remembered by his son Brad (Shannon), daughter Jill, grandchildren (Alexa, Coen, Max and Jenna), his brothers Bill (Lori) and Ed (Donna), Rose, sister-in-law Penny, his nieces and nephews, companion Jill Standing and lifelong friends.
Don was born in Summerside, PEI and moved to Alberta in 1950 with his family. Most of Don`s life was spent working in the oil industry (including Bawden/Noble Drilling) and living overseas. Don was one who enjoyed life and lived it to its fullest. He was charismatic, social, funny and a great mentor. Don enjoyed skiing, sailing and travelling including annual trips to Calgary. Nothing made him happier than having a cold drink after a long day of sailing and watching the sunset on the water.
A celebration of Don`s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 264, (1910 Kensington Road N.W.) on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Throughout many years in many different countries we would run into Don. He was always a friendly face in an unfamiliar country. Being a fellow Maritimer it was so nice to see someone from home. Don will be greatly missed by us all. Our heartfelt sympathy to his family.
Although our paths in life diverged many years ago, my memories of Don during my days with the Bawden/Noble group, are of an adventuresome individual with an unwaivering positive outlook on life. Please accept my condolences for your loss. I am sure he will be missed by many of us whose lives he touched during the course of his life.
Jill, Brad and family.
I and others are deeply saddened to hear of your loss. My thoughts are with you.
Don was a true gentleman, so easy to work for and with, he was a great planner, manager and friend I never heard him say a bad word to or of anyone. Don is a great loss to all that knew him. Farewell old Buddy.
The world is now a worse place for the passing of Don. Had not seen him since we visited Paphos three years ago, and he was then (as always) in great form. Cheers Don – will be raising a drink to you frequently.
A shock to see this familiar name and to learn of the sad news! Wonderful memories food back to Aberdeen Scotland and our friendship with Don and Jill.
Our deepest sympathies to all of Don’s family and friends all around the world. The memories will last forever!

Helen and I are proud to consider Don a friend and feel a deep sorrow to hear of his passing.
We first worked together in Aberdeen 35 years ago. I remember attending his 40th birthday – I thought that was really “old” but since then he never seemed to age.
Please accept our sincere condolences for your loss
Jill & I were so sorry to hear of Don’s passing.
We met Don many years ago during the Bawden era. I must say he had a profound impact on me both personally and professionally and although our paths did not cross in recent years, we thought of him often.
Jill and I are sorry we won’t be able to attend today’s memorial service as we are currently out of the country.
Our condolences to Brad, Jill, and family during this difficult time.
Although it has been many years since we shared a brew, I will always remember
the fun times we hsd both in Calgary and Edmonton. My condolences to all Don’s extended family as he will be missed by us all.

I met Don in Aberdeen and should say I have never felt so welcome, great communicator, mentor and person. He is missed and please accept my condolences for your loss.
Jill S, Jill T, Brad and Rose, I was sorry to first learn of Don’s illness late last year, but never dreamed we would lose him this quickly. While I have not seen Don in a number of years, we remained faithful about speaking with each other on our birthdays every year and that meant a great deal to me. What an incredible individual he was and how blessed I am to have called him my friend. I admired and loved Don’s zest for life and we always laughed that he was the one person I knew who would say “I wish I would have done ____ (fill in the blank)”, as he always seized the day and did them. He touched so many lives and we are all so lucky to have known him. My sincere condolences to you all for our loss of this remarkable man who was loved by so many.
