Condolence Messages

  1. To Ellen and all of Herb’s family, I was very sad to learn of Herb’s passing. Ellen, you and Herb, welcomed me into the Esso family via your curling team when I joined the company in ’77. Seems like yesterday. It was such a treat and a privilege to work with Herb over the years in the North especially. Very exciting times. Herb was a voice of calm and reason in the crazy busy drilling world, with a great touch for people in all kinds of roles. My thoughts go out to you Ellen and to your whole family for the loss of a great guy.

    Dear Swanston Family,
I was very sorry to hear of Herb’s passing. He was an important volunteer at Foothills Hospital when I worked there. He would make alterations for the wheelchairs which helped the Occupational Therapists immensely. This enabled us to provide better fitting wheelchairs in a timely manner for the residents. I remember that although he had an opinion, he was always open to hearing our ideas. I will always remember how incredibly helpful and pleasant he was.
    My thoughts are with you.
