SWAN, Ronald Edward

June 17, 1956 – Burnaby, BC
October 26, 2014 – Calgary, AB

Ronald Edward Swan of Calgary, AB, peacefully passed away on October 26, 2014 at the age of 58 years, after a brave fight with melanoma.

Ron will be remembered by his sharp wit, sense of humour, and zest for life. He was always a gentleman. His easy going, fun loving attitude touched everyone he met. He was a bright light in the world. Ron and Kim were everything to each other, which was affectionately expressed during their 31+ years of marriage. His other passions in life included golf, travel, reading, the BC Lions, and spending time with their friends. Ron excelled in everything he did, for those that knew “Swanny” “Ronnie”, he was larger than life.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend Kim, and her family, his brother Gordon and his family, and leaves behind many close friends.

A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY Crowfoot (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.); on Friday, October 31, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Messages of Remembrance may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation in Ron’s memory. Many thanks go to the doctors, nurses and staff at Unit 47 at FMC. Thank you to Dr. M. Smylie and his team, as well as Dr. Monzon for their care. A very special thank you goes to Dr. Claire Temple-Oberle for her compassion and expertise that she provided to Ron.

In living memory of Ron Swan, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W. Telephone: 403-241-0044.

Condolence Messages

  1. Colleen Proctor :

    Dear Kim,

Please accept my deepest and most sincere sympathy for your loss. I won’t be able to attend the service but will be there in spirit. Ron will be missed by all of us but I can only imagine how difficult this time is for you.

I especially remember Dave and I going to Victoria with Larry, Carol, Ron and you. As usual, Ron made us all laugh and we had a great time.

If there is anything that Dave and I can do, please let us know. If you ever feel like taking a trip to the Gulf Islands, our home is always open to you.

    With love and sadness, Colleen
