SUMMERS, Edward Michael

October 12, 1934 – July 30, 2014

Much loved father of Susan and Steven Summers, papa to Catherine Wierzba, Annemarie and Anthony Summers, father-in-law to Mariangela Summers, best friend and partner to Veronica Hallerberg passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at the age of 79 years. Dad was predeceased by his wife, Anne Summers, in 1998.

Immigrating to Canada from Scotland in 1955, Dad worked his entire life in the airline industry, first with Jet Air and then with Air Canada.

We celebrate Dad’s life by remembering his love for all of us, his sense of humour and his steady hand guiding us through the challenges of our lives. Dad loved cycling in the Highlands, his cabin in the foothills, and his special place in Kihei, Maui.

Dad was a lovely, gentle man and was admired and respected by all who knew him.

We would like to thank the remarkable staff at the Beverly Centre Glenmore, where Dad spent his final seven weeks. The love and care shown to Dad, by Wendy and the Palliser Community, brought Dad solace and comfort. We would also like to thank the staff of the Alzheimer’s Society Calgary, Club 36 – Beaverdam Lodge for their kindness and compassion.

A Celebration of Dad’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E.) August 5, 2014, at 2:00 p.m.
