STRINGILE, John

October 15, 1950 – Mariglianella, Napoli, Italy
December 1, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts the family of John Stringile announce his peaceful passing with his loving family surrounding him, after a long courageous battle with leukemia on December 1, 2014 at the age of 64 years.

John is survived by his loving wife of twenty-nine years Bev; son Ryan (Kimberly); daughters, Marie and Amanda; sisters, Marlene (Tony) Lanza, Nicoletta (Andy) Dal Cin; cousin Pasquale (Nancy) Stringile; as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Lategan and his oncology team, as well as the nurses on Unit 38 of Peter Lougheed Hospital.

For John nothing remained more constant or important than family. Sunday was that special day to celebrate family. When his family was younger, Sunday was a full day of eating, drinking, sharing stories and ensuring everyone, all twenty plus relatives, knew just how important they were. As the family grew and time passed, Sundays remained that special day for coffee and catching up. Family celebrations were always something that John looked forward to, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Easter, or Birthdays. John loved his family, all of his family, immediate and extended, and in return they loved him.

John worked for TD Bank for over forty-two years during which time he was not only a boss, co-worker, and financer but human. John put people first. He listened and found the how to, to bring individual and business dreams to life. During John’s time with TD Bank, he created long lasting relationships that often made him the guy that people trusted and turned to for advice.

While working hard, John always made sure that family and friends were kept close. Weekends, Summers and vacation time was spent camping. John loved the beauty of the outdoors, the smell of the campfire and while roasting a hot dog on the fire, the companionship of his family and close friends. Time on the lake was special. At the helm of the boat, John ensured that everyone was having fun.

For John, his face would light up knowing that he was surrounded by the love of family and for all of us looking back at him, we know how much we were loved.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 7:30p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Parish( 1714- 14th Ave NE ) on Friday, December 5, 2014 at 10:30am .Entombment to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends do so desire a donation can be made in John’s name with Light the Night – Team John (www.lls.org)

To: Bev, Ryan, Kimberly, Marie & Amanda; I really have no words that can do any justice in describing how I feel for your loss. I knew John from working with him at TD Bank. I always appreciated the sparkle in his eye & the not knowing what may come out of his mouth that always made it a true pleasure to be around John. As a fellow Bank Manager, John was one whom I trusted & one you could count on to do what he said he would do. Over the years we enjoyed many lunches, meetings, & social functions together – he was always upbeat & a real fun person to be around. I am sure you all have many happy memories of John – keep them in your heart, & bring them out every once in a while and smile.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. I worked with John at 8030 for almost 8 years, and respected him not only as my manager, but as a friend. John always made sure he kept a personal touch with those he worked beside. Our branch was a family during my time there and John was the head. We leaned on him and he listened as a friend and a family member. It’s been 4 yrs since I left the bank, but I thought of John often and missed his guidance. I am very fortunate to have had the pleasure of having him in my life.
God bless your family…..he is in good hands.
    Sincerely

We offer our heartfelt condolences to Bev, Ryan, Marie, Amanda and the rest of the family. We are at a loss for words and are enveloped by deep sadness. John was like a brother to me. We met at TD Bank in March 1982 when I started working at John’s Branch. Immediately, he made me feel like I was part of the family. His staff was his second family. From that day on John’s family and our family became one. Our vacations and camping outings were the best part of our lives and have been embedded in all of our memories for life. John was everyone’s friend and everyone could count on him for anything. He left a lasting impression on all of us. John was a TRUE friend, a caring father and a husband.

We are so blessed to have known you and are grateful for the wonderful memories you have left with us.

    Love you all.

I first met John shortly after coming to Calgary in late 1985 and was always comfortable in his company.. We became part of the 50 club in 2000 – which quickly turned into the 60’s club way too soon. John will be missed by many – our group will always have him in our minds and perhaps a Sambucci toast will find it’s way into future get together’s as we remember this friend. Condolences to Bev and family.
