STREET, Janet (Jan) Mary (nee Bielawski )

June 2, 1952 – Stirling, Scotland
April 13, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Janet Street (Lucier) (nee Bielawski) the evening of April 13, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jan was a well respected manager at Consolidated Recovery Systems in Calgary, AB. She enjoyed camping with friends and family at Pine Lake, watching Calgary Flames hockey, and going to Broadway musicals. Jan loved playing fastball as a youth, then slow pitch later in life. She was a large supporter of the Alberta Children’s Hospital. Jan adored time with her grandchildren and valued both laughter and friendship.

“Always have a plan B”!

Jan is survived by her loving husband Stan, her daughters and sons-in-law Deanne and Ryan of Calgary, AB and Alana and Shawn of Calgary, AB; grandchildren James, Samantha, Abigail and Brayden all of Calgary, AB; parents Doreen and Chris Nechka of Calgary, Alberta; sister and brother in law Elaine and David of Nassau, Bahamas and her brother and sister-in-law Chris and Tina of Calgary, AB; nephews Alex of Nassau, Bahamas, Paul of Toronto, ON, Derek of Calgary, AB; niece Cara of Calgary, AB; and many special friends. Jan was predeceased by her father Walter Bielawski.

Our family would like to thank the staff at the Foothills Medical Centre, 3rd floor, Special Services Building, Tom Baker Cancer Center for all their care and compassion.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street S.E.) on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.     Our deepest condolences to Stan and all of Jan’s Family. Jan was an astounding manager at Consolidated and constantly strived to get the best out of her department, her team and herself. She never backed down from any challenges and took even the difficult tasks head on. She will be missed by her Consolidated family greatly.

    From my personal perspective. Jan was a very dear and good friend. We spent many lunches together venting about the days or talking preposterous things for the sake of it. Mostly I did the preposterous as Jan was busy laughing til she cried. Great times were had and I will always miss her.
