“In You, O Lord, I have taken refuge… into Your Hands I commit my spirit.”
Margaret, our dearly loved wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, niece, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 18, 2013 surrounded by family and friends, after the challenges of a year long illness.
Throughout her life, Margaret has had a close and personal relationship with Jesus Christ, her Lord and Redeemer. She is Home, and we rejoice.
Margaret will be lovingly missed by Thane, her husband and life partner of twenty-three years, daughter Madeline (19), and son Adrian (17). She is survived by her parents Henk and Willemien Verhoeff, and by her siblings – Paul and Cobi Verhoeff, Anya and Kenn Dodd, Stephen and Joyce Verhoeff, and David and Brenda Verhoeff. Margaret is also survived by Thane’s parents, Lloyd and Elsie Strandberg, and his siblings Randy Strandberg, Sandy and Jim Hostetler, Robin Bowes, and brother-in-law Jamie Bowes. Margaret was predeceased by her sister-in-law Colette Frances (2004). She will be fondly remember by her numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins, as well as her many close friends in Calgary, and around the world.
One of Margaret’s greatest gifts was her love for people: her hospitality, her smile, and her ability to make everyone feel at home, anywhere. Choosing to live the expatriate life, Margaret and Thane have lived many years in Cairo, Tripoli, Paris, and Port Harcourt. But Calgary was always home. Margaret leaves behind more friends than can be mentioned, in Calgary and abroad, and felt truly blessed by that.
