STOREY, Taras Philip “ Terry”

December 27, 2013 – Calgary, AB

Terry Storey, beloved husband of the late Ethel Susan “Szosi” Storey of Calgary, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2013 at the age of 93 years.

Terry was born in Roblin, MB and was raised in Manitoba, later attending the University of Manitoba, graduating with his degree in geology. He pursued his love of geology, which took him to Norman Wells, the Middle East, North Africa and South America. Terry worked in the oil and gas industry in Calgary until his retirement. Even following his retirement, Terry pursued his love of geology and philosophy.

Terry is survived by a son Mel Storozynsky, two daughters Lisa Storozynsky and Lora Storey and a granddaughter Amber Storey. He was predeceased by his first wife Flora and his second wife Szosi.

Terry’s much anticipated 94th birthday party will not proceed as planned, however, a Gathering will be held in Terry’s honour in the Reception Centre at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.     We are very sorry to hear of Terry’s passing. We knew Terry through the Apeiron Society for the Practice of Philosophy. Through the 16 years that we have had the pleasure of knowing Terry he was always known to be a dependable contributor in discussion period, friend and of course presenter of seminars on occasion. His illuminating presence at seminars in Calgary and Kananaskis will be greatly missed. Just through our association with Terry we sense that he was undoubtedly a devoted husband, father and grand parent. Our condolences and best wishes to all of his family.

    I have known “Uncle Terry” for the last 16 years and enjoyed communicating with him from time to time through cards and letters. He was indeed an enthusiastic geologist! He was my mother’s (Cathie) half brother. I am glad I had the opportunity to meet Terry about 10 years ago and get to know each other a little bit.
