It is with sadness that the family announce the passing of our Mother and Grandmother, Betsy Stobie, at the Rockyview General Hospital, with her family at her side.
Betsy was born in Seattle, WA and later moved to Spokane. While attending the University of Idaho, she met a young Calgarian, Gordon Stobie, whom she fell in love with and married in 1958. Upon graduating with a degree in Education, she moved to Calgary, became a Canadian citizen and called this city home for the rest of her life. Betsy was an elementary school teacher with the Calgary Catholic School District, retiring in 1990. Her first love was working with kids and her classroom always reflected that passion.
Betsy was predeceased by her beloved husband Gordon in 2005. After Gordon’s passing, she remained active in many different groups, including swimming, Widow’s group and her art which helped her to develop many friendships.
Betsy is remembered by her daughter Vicki (Craig) Fluker, her grandchildren that meant so much to her, Janessa, Josh and Marissa; and her son Jim (Wendy) Stobie, all of Calgary. She is also survived by her sister Leola Condotta of Richland, WA.
