Gloria May Stobart beloved mother of William, John and David Stobart and wife of John Elmer Stobart who died November 2003, has passed away July 18, 2014, aged 89 years.

Gloria was born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on February 28, 1925. She and Jack were married in 1948 after both graduated from the University of Saskatoon, she with Bachelor Degrees in Arts and Commerce. They lived a wonderful life following Jack’s career around the world as a Geological Engineer. They lived most of the 50’s in Trinidad & Tobago, the early 60’s in Bolivia and Louisiana, the late 60’s in Calgary and early 70’s in London, UK, before settling down for good in Calgary.

Jack and Gloria enjoyed many cultural and musical activities and enjoyed world wide travel up until Jack passed away in 2003. They raised 3 sons who have all had professional careers and themselves raised 10 grandchildren. Gloria was involved in several charitable organisations. She cherished the friendships acquired in these activities and travels around the globe.

Gloria is survived by her sons Willy of Perth, Australia, John of Geneva, Switzerland and Dave of North Vancouver. Her brother Bill Link of Berkeley, California also survives her.

As per Gloria’s and Jack’s wishes, a simple cremation will be conducted with no service or reception. 3. Heather Fast :

Willy, Dave , John & Family,
Your mother was such a lovely woman and a pleasure to be around. Always giving and caring to those she spent time with. She loved you boys and was very proud of your accomplishments. She always spoke highly of her grandchildren and told me many stories of her life with her beloved Jack. She lived her life with much gratefulness, grace and poise. Her smile would light up a room. She was someone who just naturally made everyone feel a little happier, a little more alive to life. I was so blessed that I was able to spend as much time with her as I did. She was a wonderful friend who embraced life and told me to “learn something new every day”. She loved to talk fashion and slowly made me love the colour red. Your mother touched so many people’s lives and I know we are all enriched by it. I have learned life-long lessons through her kindness and in her memory I will walk through life with a bigger heart. She will truly be missed. My deepest condolences to all of you.
