Ineke Stewart-Jol passed away unexpectedly on July 1st/2013. She was a gracious and caring lady who will be greatly missed by her surviving family including step-daughter-in-law Danielle Stewart and step grand-children; Kai and Bella, brothers; Dirk Jol (Henny), Loek Jol (Janny), sister Dieske Jol, nieces; (Audrey, Sylvia, Anne-Marijke, Moe, (Willemijn) and nephew (Harry), close friends including sister-in-law Rie Jol, travel friend Sheila, and ten grand nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Arie Jol and Sophia Jol-Wirth, husband Bill Stewart, and step-son Warren Stewart. We will miss her warm smile, lovely laugh and gentle manner.
Ineke was born on February 2, 1940 in Scheveningen, The Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1967. She lived in Hamilton/St. Catharines, ON until moving to Calgary, AB in 1985 to start work with the Gimbel Eye Clinic. She met and married her loving husband Bill Stewart in 1992 and spent one and a half happy years with him before his passing in 1994. Ineke was a beloved friend and devoted “Oma” to her step grand-children and her grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was an avid gardener, traveler, a past tennis player and Wimbledon fan. She was an active choir member, and very involved in her church, generously sharing her time and energy volunteering for many years with the Calgary Zoo, Big Brothers and Sisters, Canadian National Institute for the Blind, and other organizations.
We will celebrate Ineke’s life with a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday July 9, 2013 at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (703 Heritage Drive) Calgary, AB.
