May 6, 1924 – April 4, 2012
Bob Stevenson of Calgary passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 just short of his 88th year.
Bob was born in Ottawa, raised there and in Fredericton, NB. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy at the age of 17 to serve on the merchant ship Stormont in the North Atlantic in WWII. Bob married his beloved Kathleen (Kay) in 1946 while attending UNB and together in 1951 they began their new life in Calgary, raising their three children. Bob enjoyed a long and successful career as a trailblazing Geologist in Calgary’s booming Oil and Gas Industry. Always active, Bob enjoyed many outdoor pursuits including fishing, curling, skiing, gardening, ranching and breakfast. His favorite places on earth were any beach in Maui, Cataract Creek and mucking about on his farm. Bob will always be remembered for his determination, love of family and his irresistible and inescapable sense of humour.
Bob is survived by and will be deeply missed by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Anne and Frank Stollbert, and Bev Stevenson and Blair Lindsay; his amazing grandchildren Taylor and Alexa Stollbert and David Lindsay; his brother and sister-in-law Don and Joan Stevenson of Ottawa; as well as special family members Anna and Herman Doornbos and their son Paul of Sharbot Lake, ON.
