Mario Stella passed away in Palm Springs on February 10, 2013 at the age of 79 years old. His absence will be missed immensely by all of his family and friends who loved him so much.

Mario was born in Blairmore, AB on May 21st 1933. At the age of 13, Mario decided to go out East with two of his best friends where they thought would be the new world for them to prosper in. After two years of working in Quebec he came back to Blairmore and found various jobs before moving to Calgary at the age of 18. He went to SAIT and got his diploma. He finally settled down and met the love of his life Rosetta, and within a year they were married. Mario then went to work for the Galleli group of companies and worked 16 hours a day. After their marriage, Mario decided to start his entrepreneurialship by purchasing the Riverside grocery store. In 1967 Mario decided to move on and decided he was going to be a developer and built several warehouses and bought and developed several pieces of land. Together he and Rosetta built their successful business, Stella Holdings Ltd. Mario and Rosetta shared a special love for the arts community of Calgary and they were always willing to give back to the community. After losing Rosetta in 2002 he still continued to enjoy the arts throughout Calgary and Banff. One of the biggest parts of Mario’s life was the Rotary club of South Calgary where he and Rosetta found friends for life. Mario loved to live his life to the fullest. He enjoyed his cooking, travel, and especially his house in Palm Springs where he enjoyed gardening, and yard work daily. He was also very proud of his two grandchildren Jordanna-Rose and Ashton-James who will miss him dearly.

Mario is survived by son and daughter-in-law Dean and Connie Stella and his grandchildren Jordanna-Rose and Ashton-James. He is also survived by a sister Jeanna and numerous nieces and nephews.
