STECH, Harry John

February 15, 1935 – February 24, 2012

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, brother and grandfather on Friday, February 24, 2012 at the age of 77 years, after a bravely fought, year long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by the family that was so important to him.

After a 32 year career with AGT/Telus he enjoyed his yard and garden and always found a new project to keep busy with. For the past 13 years he looked forward to going to work with his colleagues at the Calgary Citizens’ Appeal Panel. His family and friends will remember a remarkable man with great style, integrity, and who was quick with a quip or a joke. He had an ear for anyone who needed to talk and was ready with wise advice.

Harry is survived by his loving wife Dorina of 52 years, daughters Brenda and Michele (Daryel) and son Richard (Kathy) and the grandchildren he was so very proud of Madison, Alexa, Harrison, Stephen and Garrett. Harry is also survived by his brother Mike (Barb) Stech and his sister Mary (Barry) Johnston. He was pre-deceased by his father Stephen and his mother Christine.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church (321 – 90th Avenue S.E.) on Wednesday February 29, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Forward condolences through A special thanks to Dr. Lupichuk at the Tom Baker, and Dr. Roode, Dr. Pawlic and the staff at Unit 82 at the Rockyview for their outstanding care and kindness. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate a donation to the charity of the donor’s choice.

In living memory of Harry Stech, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.

  7. Phil and France van Angeren :

    To Dorina and family,

You have our most heartfelt condolences for Harry’s passing. I feel so sad that I didn’t get a chance to see him after Christmas. I will greatly miss our office chats….he always had the right words and advice (usually with an a-propos quip) to alleviate the daily grind. He was a heck of a nice guy and will be sorely missed by all.
Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with you all.
