Cash Starlight of Tsuu T’ina Nation passed away on Friday, February 20, 2015 at the age of 25 years.

Cash attended school at St. Benedict School and St. Stephen School in Calgary Alberta, while attending St. Stephens School, Cash received Aboriginal Academic Achievement Award and later in life he received his GED to complete his schooling.

At the age of 5 years he played Hockey with the Southfour Hockey Association and the Seven Chiefs hockey. He started hockey as a goalie and then became defensemen up until the age of 17 years, he was awarded multiple medals which included MVP. He travelled Powwow’s as a grass dancer. Cash enjoyed working and was starting his career in welding. He received many certifications; WHIMS, Traffic control BCCSA, H2S Alive, Chainsaw and Construction safety training. Cash’s present employment was with the Guja Nugutin-na (WOP) working with the Mental Health Program on Tsuu T’ina Nation.

Cash loved caring for his grandmother Ruth and was a loving brother to his 9 siblings and a great friend to his hockey families.

Cash is survived by his Mother Ruby (Adrian) Sitting Eagle– Starlight, Brothers Eugene, Roman, Dhillon, Onesimus, Piase and Sisters Sarceena, Jewel, Malika, Shikila and Lennie all of Tsuu T’ina Nation. His nieces Serenity and Aerith Starlight and his grandparents Gerald & Laura Sitting Eagle of Siksika Nation.

Uncle’s Carter Starlight, Hutch (Pam) Sitting Eagle, Anthony (Audrey) Sitting Eagle, and Curtis; Aunties Olivia (Wyatt) Sitting Eagle, Cheryl Sitting Eagle, Sandra (Radford) Blackrider and Vivain (Richard) Sitting Eagle and cousin Carlisha Starlight. His adopted brother Frank Big Plume; his Godparents Tania Big Plume and Carter Starlight.

Cash is predeceased by his only child and father Edwin Sitting Eagle, Grandparents Edna Ruth Starlight, John and Pricilla Sitting Eagle and Aunt Rhonda Starlight and Tyrone McGillis. Great-grandparents, Simon and Mary Sitting Eagle, Phillip and Lilly Many Bears and Josephine and Paul Weaselhead.

Wake Services will be held at the residence of Carter Starlight Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 1:00 p.m.

Funeral Service will be celebrated at Chiila Elementary School (Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB) on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow Tsuu T’ina Cemetery (Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB).Forward condolences through

    Cash was considered by Patrick and myself as a son and will be missed. We enjoyed watching him grow up and he will be missed for his kindness, sweetness, respect for people, his gentle ways with those who were close to him. He always gave us hugs and said hello with his cheeky smile………. My prayers and condolences to you all and remember that he will always live within our hearts and minds and will never be forgotten.     Cash was an outstanding hockey player and I had the privilege to coach him in his later teens. He listened well and produced on the ice and in the dressing room. I am very sorry to hear about his passing.
