STANTE, Anna Teresa (nee Caravaggio)

December 23, 1931 – Pescara, Italy
June 4, 2013 – Calgary, Alberta

Anna Stante, beloved wife of the late Luigi Stante and dear mother and Nonna, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the age of 81 years.

Anna was born on December 23, 1931 in Pescara, Italy. She later immigrated to Canada, leaving her native Italy and all her friends and family to embrace her new life. Anna and Luigi were married on March 18, 1957 by proxy and they celebrated their marriage on December 7, 1957. Educated in Fashion Design and Pattern Making, Anna was a seamstress extraordinaire. She was an active member at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Parish (formerly Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church) and the Calgary Italian Club. Anna’s greatest passion was her family. She loved deeply and was especially endeared to children and anything small and vulnerable. In 2007, Anna fulfilled a dream of taking her entire family to her favorite vacation spot in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico.

Anna is survived by her two daughters, Marcella and Renata; two grandsons, Dylan and Ivan; sister Lidia; and brothers, Enio and Benito. Anna was predeceased by her husband Luigi Stante; parents Pietro and Caterina; sister Maria; brothers, Francesco and Nicola.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Parish (formerly Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church) (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum. Dear Family of Anna Stante
I wish to exten my deepest sympathy and prayers to you in the loss of Anna. It is so difficult for you to lose your Mom so soon after your Dad’s passing. I am asking God to wrap his loving arms around you to comfort you and give you His peace. I really enjoyed getting to know your Mom at Bocce at the Calgary Italian Club. She was a vey sweet and kind lady. Now she is rejoined with her husband in Heaven. She is whole again and free of pain. I know that you will miss her deeply but she will always be in your heart. Sincerely

I will never forget Zia Anna. She was a woman of dignity and grace, who always made me feel welcome. I spoke with her a few months ago, and I’m so grateful for that. I am sending my sympathies to Renata and Marcella. I just lost my mom 2 weeks ago and I know how painful this is. I am praying for all of you at this sad time. Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of a truly fabulous lady. Rest in peace dear Anna. I will NEVER forget you. Love, Corinne
