    Dear Rita & Family,
Life lessons I learned from Al:
A cold day on the ski hill is made bearable through engaging conversations with friends.
People can soar with the eagles all day long if they have an empty bottle on board.
Always believe the best of your kids, even when the evidence may suggest otherwise. They will always live up to your expectations.
Take the best care of the people you love the most–your family.
Good music + good food + good friends & great wine = joy

Wishing you all the peace that comes from the memories of love shared, to comfort you now and in the days ahead.

  15. Rita and family,

We have just today learned of Al’s passing and your great loss.

Our hearts are filled with sorrow at the passing of such a lively, energetic soul and our thoughts are with you.

I hope there is comfort in knowing he lived more in his 60 years than most people do in much longer lives, and that he lived it in the company of people he loved and who loved him.

I’m not sure any of us can hope for anything better than that.

  16. He will be sadly missed by all of us at WVSC plus he was an important part of what we call the Valley Life. I guess I am going to have to get my soaring ride with him in Heaven. He had such a postive impact on me with the sparkle in his eye.

I was sorry to read of Allan’s passing in the Winnipeg Free Press. I can thank him for his Chemistry Lab notes which greatly helped me through first year Chemistry. I remember talking to Allan the week before we had to decide what to take at U of M ( he was in my grade 11 and 12 class at Nelson MacIntyre and we both grew up in Norwood) and we both decided that we would give Geology a try.
I’m sure he will be greatly missed. Our sincere sympathies.

  20. Al was such a presence at the Canadian Rockies Soaring Club that it is hard to imagine our future summers without him calling in from Alpha X-Ray One or sipping his diet coke on the clubhouse deck. Al, Rita, and Pepper at the picnic tables for an evening BBQ provided the perfect close to many a perfect soaring day.
All of us at CRSC will miss him deeply.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. Al was one of our first clients – he helped us get off the ground as a business. Funny, unassuming, a true entrepreneur and passionate explorationist, the energy sector has lost a real gem. We learned much from him about geology and relationships. He is will not be forgotten.

I just found out and am terribly saddened at your loss. I wish we had all met earlier so as to have more memories to cherish. My first meeting was when Allan & Kevin flew into Saskatoon to meet me for lunch. Ya know, I couldn’t get over the fact they were just flying in to meet me. First time to meet my new cousins.
