  2. Hal Thompson :

    Dear Jon and Maureen …

My heart goes out to you as you face the passing of your precious mother.

I have so many fond memories of your mom, and feel blessed for having had her touch my life in such special ways.

It doesn’t seem like sixty years have passed since your mother had a bunch of the neighborhood kids over for Sunday night hamburgers and Disneyland (on King Edward Park’s first TV set) on those cold Edmonton winter nights – the highlight of my week. One thing sure – I always felt warmly welcomed and fussed over at the Sperry’s.

Your Mom led and inspired by example through her gentle, kind, decent and caring ways – I felt the goodness and safety of life in her quiet presence. Happily, these gifts were passed on as you both carried on her tradition of inspiring young minds. Hers was a life well lived.

I always think of Mildred Sperry with fondness and respect.

    In deepest sympathy,

    Hal Thompson
