  1. Jane Mullin :

So very saddened to hear of Milford’s passing. What a wonderful guy; one of the “Oromocto Boys” and a true friend to so many. Saw him last November and he was happy with his life and relationship with Ronnie of whom he spoke with a big smile. My condolences to Cindy, Ronnie and so many friends.

  4. I am so sorry to hear of Milford’s passing. I knew Milford when we went to school in Oromocto. He was popular for his quick wit, his passion for art and his good heart. I met Milford again in Calgary and had an opportunity to chat about old school times and friends. Still the same sweet, sincere man, just a little mellower. Such a loss to his family and many, many friends.

Our sincere condolences to Cindy, Family and Ronnie,
We spoke with friends from coast to coast this past weekend shocked at Milf’s passing. Milf was a bright light, fun to be with and I always appreciated his kindness and loyalty as a solid friend. I remember back in high school looking over at Milf – he always had his head down focused on what he was working on. I couldn’t wait until the end of class to see what he was drawing. Milf was a magnificent artist and I cherish the artwork he gave me.
He will always be remembered as a great friend. Love you Milf…Milford the Great!…Milford the Viking! Til we meet again

I first met Milford on a flight from Lar Germany to Ottawa. Over the course of 5 to 6 hours we discovered that we had all the same friends in canada. Many good times ensued. One of my prized possessions is the painting [commissioned by John Williams] of Milfs vision of Karen and my wedding reception. It has always hung in our bedroom, always will. Thanks my friend. Maybe we meet again. Love Jerry and Karen Graham

Spence was always telling me to go big and you can do it. It was fun to talk to him in the hallways at Sunnyside and Queen E about sports. He was the best custodian Sunnyside ever had and our school had never been so clean. He even knew all the kids names and was always so kind. I’m going to miss him.

My sincere condolences to the Spencer family for your loss! I trained with Milford and he will be dearly missed in our Facility management courses. Milford and I took the boiler course together and we always had a lot of joking and fun together. He always said that I kept him on his toes and that I was a hard act to follow. Many a time he went into schools after I had been there and told me how staff and students always talked about me to him. I told him that I hope it was good things so that my ears weren’t burning. I will miss him he was a good friend and co-worker!

    Sincerely Jukka Tukkimaki

Is it sad to have such a great man leaving us. He was a pleasure to work with. Every day he would greet you with a smile and a Good Morning or Afternoon and as you leave it was have a great day. He had the greatest stories about when he was young and how us redheads have to stick together. I am going to miss your great smile and the laughs that we had. It was an honor and a pleasure being able to work with such a great man. Thank you for helping make this world a better place. Thank you for the kindness that you showed to my boys. You are going to be missed dearly. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

  26. Julie Bradley :

What a shock to hear that our Spence was gone – his family at Sunnyside School were all wishing him well and looking forward to welcoming him back in September. I wish I could thank him once again for ensuring that the heat was “just right” in the library – for checking the library was “just so” for the grandparent readers on Wednesday afternoons and for the greeting always delivered in the mornings.
“Just let me know if there is anything I can do for you” he would say each week – and he meant it – always above and beyond the call of the job. A real prince of a man who took great pride in his work with a great personality to match. He held a strict standard of the childrens behavior but he loved them and knew them all by name. He had a wonderful artistic talent that he loved to share, classical music eminating from his office.
Taken way, way too soon – truly missed.

  27. Spence,
A man of strength, courage, integrity and kindness. A tremendous role model for all young men to follow. At Sunnyside he took great pride in his work and in the care of all who were within his facility. Everyday his voice welcomed and his presence was evident in the courtyard as each of us arrived. If he could offer assistance or an uplifting word, it seemed he was always in the right place at the right time. Always reminding us to take it easy, take care of ourselves and bless him, bugged me regularly to drink more water. He always took care of us and I will miss his caring voice. Not to see him later this month as we all return to school will be difficult and it will be difficult for the children. It is amazing that he took the time to learn everyone’s name and wanted to know each little personality. That is a fine and rare quality. Spence shared his art and his talent with us and enjoyed teaching the children techniques. Above and beyond the call is a fitting description of his actions. I wish that we all could have gathered again and that your birthday wasn’t the last time we spoke to you. I am grateful to have known you and will forever remember your voice in the halls as you went about your work, usually having a conversation with yourself. Rest peacefully dear friend, you will not be forgotten and will be forever missed. Condolences to your family and Ronnie.
