Anna Spadafora (nee Lombardi), beloved wife of Giuseppe Spadafora of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at the age of 80 years.
Born on July 14, 1934 in San Giovanni in Fiore, Italy, Anna and her husband left Italy in 1968 with their six children to start a better life in Canada. She worked for Cara Operations for twenty years and was a well-known chef at the Calgary Airport.
Anna will be lovingly remembered by her husband of sixty-two years Giuseppe; her children, Angela Slavik, Milos Slavik, Franca (Frank) Ammirati, Frank (Rosa) Spadafora, Vince (Teresa) Spadafora, Jack (Connie) Spadafora, Tony (Despina) Spadafora, and her adopted son Dr. Bryant; her nineteen grandchildren; and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Isabella Spadafora, Rosina (Bernardo) Nicoletti, and Marietta Teti; brothers-in-law, Giovanni Olivito and Giovanni Spadafora; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Anna was predeceased by her parents Vincenzo Lombardi and Antonia Nicastro; her infant daughter; and infant great-grandson; also brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and a niece.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, September 29, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church (formerly Our Lady of Grace, 1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.
