With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jerome Sopczak, beloved husband and best friend of Anne, father of Gale and father in-law of Dave, who passed away peacefully Monday, July 1, 2013 at the age of 82, with his family by his side.
Jerome arrived in Calgary in 1962 to pursue his career as a mechanic and later his journey led him to his greatest passion of working in an environment surrounded by sporting goods equipment and recreational vehicles. He retired in 1991 but continued to utilize his acquired skills refurbishing everything that required a mechanical mindset. Jerome lived his life ever changing as the four seasons; fall – spent hunting and hiking, winter – enjoying many hours snowmobiling, spring – camping and motorcycling, and summer – salmon fishing on the west coast. The outdoors called and Jerome was always an active participant with Anne by his side every step of the way. He considered them both as billionaires, the wealth being they were able to enjoy so much time together in nature. Jerome ensured that each adventure was carefully archived in the form of photographs, videos and cd’s. He has left us with such wonderful memories.
Jerome is survived by his siblings Vivian, Marguerite and Ken as well as his many nieces and nephews.
