Steve beloved husband of Maxine of Calgary, passed away after a courageous battle with lung disease on November 18, 2014 at the age of 79 years.
Steve is survived by his cherished wife of 52 years Maxine. He is remembered as a loving father by Susan (Tom) Stewart of Calgary, AB and as a proud Grandpa to Stephan (Kim) Girard of Vulcan, AB, and David, Thomas, Vanessa and Robert Stewart of Calgary, AB. Steve was brought joy by his great-grandchildren Zion, Henry and William Girard of Vulcan, AB. Steve is also survived by brother Frank (Josephine) Sommer of Edmonton, AB and brothers in law Peter Posynick of Boyle, AB and James (Terry) Posynick of Creston, BC.
Born in Torokbalint, Hungary and educated in West Germany, Steve chose to make the move to Canada at the tender age of 18 years and settled for a time in Edmonton, AB. Steve found employment and love in Cassiar, BC where he met Maxine. They later relocated to Edmonton in 1962 and were blessed with their daughter Susan. In 1967, the family was relocated to Calgary and settled in to a life of family and new friends. Steve enjoyed an active and fulfilled life that included his love of people, his generous spirit and allowed him to share his kind heart displayed by his readiness to help others. He will be dearly missed by not only the family that loved him, but his many friends who were able to share a laugh and a smile with along the way.
Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church (5340 4 St SW, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, November 22nd, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
