March 29, 1949 – November 8, 2012
Val Smith, beloved husband of Chris Piché (Smith) of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at the age of 63 years.
Val Smith. A true man. Val Smith was the man all men should be. A loving father, a devoted grandfather, the perfect husband and most importantly a true friend. To all who knew him, he was quiet, yet the “boss” of all. He had passion for life, and even more passion for everyone else’s. No matter what, he was the one who was always there. His selfless compassion for others meant he would do anything for anyone at any time. He was the one person you could rely on unconditionally, physically and emotionally. He knew how to make us smile by simple gestures and words. We smiled because he smiled. We smile now knowing he made us the people we are today.
Val is survived by his wife Chris; three daughters and a son-in-law, Chantal Smith, Carole Smith and Susie and Jason Tanton; seven grandchildren, Shanice, Rayanne, Colby, Hayley, Ty, Cole and Jake. He is also survived by his mother Marie Smith and his brothers, sisters and his extended family in Eastern Canada. He was predeceased by his father George Smith and his brother Daniel.
