SMITH – Jim Roy

February 26, 1951 – January 24, 2011

Jim passed away peacefully January 24, 2011 surrounded by his beloved family in the comfort of their home that he provided for them thirty one years ago. He fought a courageous, tiring battle with ALS and at fifty nine was still the Family’s rock until his last breath. Jim was a Master Electrician with the City of Calgary for thirty years. He was an outstanding husband, father, dedicated community supporter, volunteer and neighbour.

He is survived by his best friend of forty three years, Marion (Fleming), his daughter Katie Wright (Trent), son Curtis, granddaughter and the joy of his life the last ten months Charlie Jean Wright. He hated to leave them so soon but went in peace knowing they have each other.

He is also survived by his mother Verl Smith (Avery), Janis Kelman (Garry), Susan Edmunds (Victor), Alex Fleming, and Goldie Fleming. He will be forever missed by Leigh Godard (Don), Tyler Edmunds, Robb Kelman (Pei), Russ Kelman (Karen), Ernie Fleming (Angela), Jason Fleming (Lisa), Sada Kelman, Jocelyn Edmunds, Stephen and Sean Kelman and Tanner Godard. Also remembering him are countless extended family, friends and co-workers.

He is predeceased by his father Roy Charles Smith (2001) and his mother-in-law Agnes Jean Fleming (2005).
“Dad you will be forever in our hearts and with us always, take care”.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Sunday, January 30 at 2:00 p.m. Please wear your favourite pair of jeans.
