Freda Smith of Calgary, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2012 at the age of 86 years.
Freda was born in Timmins, ON and was raised in Olds, AB. As a young woman, she moved to Calgary to attend Henderson’s Business School. Freda later became the head stenographer for the Mannix Corporation, where she worked until she met the love of her life, Lloyd. They were married June 30, 1948 in Calgary where they resided and raised their family. Freda will be remembered for her love of and devotion to her family.
Freda is survived by one son Allan, two daughters and a son-in-law Aileen Palmquist, Sandi and Dan Cole; grandchildren Melanie Jones, Christopher and Bradley Cole; and great grandson Michael Kennedy. She is also survived by her “sister by choice” Ivy Haughian as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd Smith on November 11, 2006 and her brother Ronald Ashcroft.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
