Gordon, beloved husband of his loving wife Patricia of fifty-seven years of Calgary, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, November 20, 2005 at the age of 78 years.
Father of Brian (Paquita), Allan (Deborah), Ken (Darlene), Ron (Leslie), David (Shelley), seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. He is also survived by his brother Paul (Helen), and his many nieces and nephews.
He was very proud of his family and their accomplishments and he will live on in our hearts. At the age of forty, he went on to the University of Calgary and graduated with a Masters Degree in Psychology. Gordon was a counsellor at AADAC and later a Director of the Renfrew Recovery Centre until his retirement. Gordon enjoyed singing hymns, painting, writing poetry and had a great sense of humour. He was a spiritual person and received the gift of life through the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous. He will be remembered by the numerous people whose lives he touched in his forty-one year involvement. Gordon’s favourite saying was “I am a son of Skitch and have five sons who are all sons of a Skitch.”
