Raymond Siwiec beloved husband of Laura Madeline Siwiec (nee Lee ) of Calgary, AB, passed away on November 11, 2014 at the age of 67 years.
Best friend and life partner of Laura, father of Andrea (Calgary) and Stephan (Milwaukee) left us following a long battle with prostate cancer. Ray is also survived by sister, Virginia (David) of Toronto, brother, Dan, of Toronto, cousins and nephews and by his much-loved Aunts, Sophie, Stella and Jenny. Also mourning his loss are Laura’s mother, Kay Lee (Montreal), brother, Dan (Toronto), sister, Susan (Calgary) and brother, John (Susan) of Mont Saint Hilaire as well as five beautiful nieces.
Raymond was predeceased by his parents Ella and Edward Siwiec.
Ray graduated with an M.B.A from York University and began his career as a developer under the tutelage of Joe Fruchter at Cadillac Fairview. This work eventually lead him to Calgary in 1980. Ray struck out on his own many years ago and created several junior capital pools, the one he was most proud of- Foothills Oil & Gas Ltd.-was listed on the TSE. Ray’s collaboration with Bill Kiff, Phillip Coleman and Doug McArthur, among others, in these endeavors energized him.
Ray was a very proud Dad. He supported and guided Andrea along her career path, he “coached” Stephan along in his hockey career. No sacrifice was too big if it would be of benefit to them. Ray knew that his children live his values of integrity, service and honesty.
