May 12, 1940 – Weyburn, SK
August 7, 2013 – Calgary, AB
Garett S. Sinclaire passed away on August 7, 2013 at the age of 73 after a three month battle with cancer.
He was born May 12, 1940 in Weyburn, Saskatchewan to Cecil and Hazel. Garett has three sisters Marge, Jeanette and Noreen and three brothers Merlin, Terry and Lorne. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Terry. Garett is survived by his devoted, loving wife of twenty-five years, Shirley, his daughters, Debbie (Rod) Pearce, Diana (Gary) Braine, Sherry Sinclaire and Jodi (Gareth) Rowlands; and was a loving Papa/Opa to his seven grandchildren Morgan and Cole Pearce, Cassidy and Rylan Braine, Jamie and Kevin Rowlands and Hailey.
Garett served in the Navy from 1957-1968 as a communications officer. He was an entrepreneur at heart and owned and ran many businesses throughout his life, but his love was always real estate. Garett was an agent for nearly 40 years in Vancouver and Calgary, most recently with Maxwell Canyon Creek branch. Garett was very admired in his field of work and was also very generous with his advice and time when needed.
Garett loved to play pool and was in a league that played each Thursday evening. His wonderful laugh and love of the game will be missed by all of his pool buddies.
Garett was a man who had boundless energy. He loved to work on his home and always had a project on the go. In the early 80’s he built homes in Okotoks so his experience and knowledge were invaluable. Whenever you sat with him to discuss renovations he would say “I have a tool that would make that easier.” He was the family gadget guy and that always made us smile.
Garett and Shirley have many wonderful and supportive friends. He loved spending time with them, going to Big Valley and listening to country music, and having BBQ’s and simply spending time together. He will be deeply missed by all of them.
Garett had a beautiful heart, a fantastic sense of humour and a generous, loving soul. There are no words to describe how deeply he will be missed or how much he is loved. Garett’s life will be celebrated as his family scatters his ashes in the ocean off of Victoria. An open house will be held in his honour at a future date, to be announced.
A Private Family Service will be held at a later date. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
