SIMPSON, Sophie (nee Angelopoulos)

November 6, 1919 – June 24, 2012

It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved Mother and best friend, Sophie Simpson on June 24, 2012 at the age of 92 years.

Mom will be remembered for her kind, compassionate and nurturing heart; she truly was a mother to everyone. Sophie was an amazing cook and she loved to entertain and, without fail, made friends, family and even strangers feel welcome and comfortable in her home. While always a true and classy lady, Mom was also lots of fun, with a sharp wit and great sense of humour. Throughout her life, and to her last days, Sophie lived with great strength and courage; she set an example for us all.

Sophie is survived by her loving daughter Elaine, her brother Ernest Angel, her sister Mary Greene, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Harry, and by three brothers and three sisters: John Angel, Paul Angel, Spiros Angelopoulos, Nancy Bevans, Alice Medford and Lillian Russell.

At Sophie’s request, there will be no funeral service. Condolences may be forwarded through .

Special thanks go to Bonnie Parrott, Carla and the Palliative Care Team, and Rita and Lani for their compassionate support.

In living memory of Sophie Simpson, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Telephone: (403)243-8200
