Mirriam Simpson passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at the age of 83 years.
Mirriam was born on November 15th, 1929. She grew up on a farm in Irricana and spent most of her life in Airdrie where she later raised her family. One of the proudest moments in her life was when she won the silver metal for Shuffleboard at the Alberta Senior Games in 2009.
Her family was her biggest passion in life and she affectionately called her children “Her Girls and Her Boys”.
Mirriam is survived by her four sons and two daughters, Lyle and Dianne Schmidt of Calgary, Jim and Sherry Simpson of Crossfield, Janet and Andy Shirriff of Cochrane, Jan Piatt of Red Deer, Stan and Carol Simpson of Crossfield, Joe and Maureen Simpson of Sundre, Valerie Simpson and Matt Wilkins of Cochrane; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and her very special friend Nelson McDonald.
Mirriam was predeceased by her son Tom in 1983; her husband Alex Simpson in 1998; her father John in 1985; her mother Ivy in 1989 and by her sister Alice in 2006.
Funeral Services will be held at Crossfield Community Centre (900 Mountain Avenue, Crossfield, AB) on Monday, November 4, 2013 at 1:00p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Airdrie Cemetery, Airdrie, AB.
