March 12, 1933 – August 13, 2012
Joan, beloved wife of George Simpson, of Calgary, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2012 at the age of 79 years.
Raised on the family farm in Claresholm, Joan was the baby of a family of eight children. She spoke fondly of growing up with her brothers and sisters, Roy, Iris, Owen, Audrey, Betty, Wayne, and Shirley, and it was obvious that her upbringing in a family filled with love had an impact on the way she lived her life. Joan loved to cook, was an excellent seamstress, and knew the value of family. She was always happiest with her large, extended family around her. Joan married her childhood sweetheart, George Simpson, on September 8, 1953, settling down in Calgary in 1955. She was extremely proud of her three children, three grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren and had the kindest, biggest heart in the world where they were concerned. Friends also remember her for her kind and gentle spirit.
Joan left us far too soon. Her children, Wade (Jan), Cameron (Melanie) and Christina (Wayne), and George, her husband of nearly 59 years, weren’t ready for her to be taken, but are grateful and blessed for having had the time they did have with her.
Though her footprint upon this earth wasn’t enormous, the impact she had was huge. Always loved, never forgotten.
