SIMPSON, Christopher James

September 2, 1962 – Edmonton, Alberta
December 7, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta

Chris beloved husband of Robin Simpson (nee Henkel) of Calgary, AB, passed away on December 7, 2014 at the age of 52 years.

Chris was a very caring and giving person. He worked most of his life in Health Care and in his latter years he earned his degree in Addictions Counselling and worked as an addictions counsellor. Chris grew up in Sherwood Park, AB and lived most of his life in and around Edmonton, AB. He moved to Calgary, AB 6 years ago. Chris’ early years were spent very involved with scouting and enjoying the outdoors. He carried his passion for nature and the mountains throughout his life. He volunteered in Haiti to provide dental care for less fortunate people. Chris enjoyed music and playing various instruments and recently extended that passion by founding a recorded studio called Broken Toy Records.

Besides his loving wife, Chris is survived by his daughter Lisa Henkel (also known as Lisa Simpson); father, Robert Simpson; sisters, Lori Cor (Mike Cor), Andrea Souter (Darren Souter); brother, Jeff Simpson (Tricia Waddell); nieces, Becca and Emmie Cor, Stephanie Cloutier (Greg Cloutier), Nicole and Jackson Henkel, and Jordan and Jesse Henkel; father-in-law, Charlie Henkel; mother-in-law, Edna Henkel; brothers-in-law, Barry (Louise) Henkel and Jay (Bev) Henkel. Chris is predeceased by his mother Dorothy Simpson.

A Celebration of Chris’ Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial donations will be made directly to Simon House (http://simonhouse.com/donate) in Chris’ honor.
