SHELLEY – Helen Winnifred (nee Larter)

June 19, 1918 – December 6, 2009

Helen was born in Calgary and lived in Capitol Hill until she married Henry on September 8, 1934. Helen lived and raised her family in Ramsey for forty-five years. For many years Helen managed the CNIB cafeteria but her true joy was being a homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother.

Helen is survived by her children, Ellen (Gerry) of High River, Ronald (Jeanette) of Strathmore, Kenneth (Lois), and John (Kelly), both of Calgary. Helen has sixteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. Helen was predeceased by her son Henry Jr. (Hank) on December 6, 1967; her husband Henry Sr. on March 2, 1995; and her sister Dorothy Weir on March 26, 2002.

Helen’s greatest pride and joy in her life was her family. Her capacity to love each and every member of her family was truly boundless. Helen Shelley personified JOY, her zest for life was admired by all who knew her. Each and every day we shared with our Mother/Granny was truly a gift.

  3. Charlotte & Raymond Kenney :

Our sincere condolences in the loss Helen, who was a wonderful lady. My parents met Helen at the Beaver Dam Lodge, where they both resided and she was always so personable, friendly and warm to us all. From time to time, I would have a chit chat with Helen and she always was so cordial and had a smile on her face.

Also, Kelly, you were such a wonderful daughter-in-law, as I got to know you from our visits to Beaver Dam Lodge every day. I think you and I joked that we should also get a suite there for ourselves.

    Take care.
