Robert Shea passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary on September 13, 2009. Bob is lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Mae, by his daughter Cherye and by his son Michael (Shelley), and his seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Bob is also survived by his sister Pat of Vancouver. He was pre-deceased by his parents Wilbert and Verna, and by his brother Harry. He was born in Calgary on June 28, 1930 and moved to Rocky Mountain House, AB at a very young age. Bob moved back to Calgary and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1948. He attended the University of Alberta and graduated with a degree in Pharmacy in 1955. In 1959 Bob and Mae founded Cambrian Drugs and partnered in two additional pharmacies, all in Calgary. Bob was also a founding director of the Calgary North Hill Rotary Club. Bob’s passion for the outdoors eventually led his family to Bragg Creek, AB, and he soon had all the family involved with horses. Bob was a director of the Quarter Horse Association of Alberta and a founding director of the Junior Quarter Horse Association of Alberta. Bob and Mae spent their retirement years enjoying grandchildren, Bragg Creek and wintering in Arizona. His favorite time was being with his family and extended family members sharing his stories about the early years. Bob will be greatly missed by his family and all who had the pleasure of having him in their lives.
