SHAUGHNESSY – Rick “Shag”

June 22, 1954 – May 1, 2010

Eric (Rick) Joseph “Shag” Shaughnessy passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the age of 55 years.

Born on June 22, 1954 in Montreal, QC, Rick received his Bachelor of Commerce from Concordia University, becoming an alumnus of the Concordia Stingers. Rick moved to Calgary in 1979 where he held various sales and distributions positions, most recently with Lawson Products Inc. He was an active member of the Calgary Elks Lodge and Golf Club and the President of Stampede City Old Timers Hockey League. Rick was a sportsman and crossword fanatic. He was a loving father, brother and son and a dear friend to many. Rick was a proud man with much to share and a passion for what life had to offer.

Rick is survived by his daughters, Meagan and Kendra; sons, Kyle and Dylan, all of Calgary; mother Rita, sisters and brother-in-law, Donna and Diane and René; and brother Ron, all of Montreal. Rick was predeceased by his father Ron; and brothers, David and Tiger.

A Celebration of Rick’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 10:30 a.m.  Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.  If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Rick’s honour may be made directly in trust to TD Canada Trust, Branch 8076, Account number 6355866.
