SHANLEY, Tillie (nee Trochymchuk)

April 17, 1932 – July 22, 2012

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tillie Shanley on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at the Agape Hospice. Tillie maintained a strong sense of faith and it gives the family comfort knowing she passed peacefully and is now resting in the arms of God.

Tillie is survived by her children, Michelle Coleman, Brent (Deanna), and Karen (Terry) Spiker; their father John Shanley; her grandchildren, Jason Coleman, Sarah (Jayson) Boutron, Jarrett and Kurt Spiker; and great-grandchildren, Rylan, Sabrina and Adrianna Boutron. Also by her sisters, Elizabeth (Norman) Melanson and Nadia (Boris) Heshka; and brother Paul (Marcella) Trochymchuk. She was predeceased by her parents William and Cassie; and brothers, John, Peter and Nick. Family was always Tillie’s priority and she was enthusiastically supportive of the activities of her children and grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered by all who had the fortune of knowing her.

Tillie will be greatly missed and will forever remain in our hearts and in our prayers.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (Corner of Northmount Drive & Northland Drive N.W.) on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Her family would like to thank the welcoming hands of the staff at the Agape Hospice. Although her time there was very brief she felt very much like it was “home”. They would also like to thank all the staff and administration from Unit 47 at the Foothills Hospital for their unwavering care and kindness.

In living memory of Tillie Shanley, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park Cochrane by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH Telephone: (403) 276-2296.

  5. Henry and Clare Vaugeois :

It’s been a long time since we communicated with our old Drayton Valley neighbours, the Shanleys. We are so very sad it has to be under these circumstances but we just had to pay tribute to a great Lady. Tillie was a prime example of a genuine person, always had a smile that exposed her inner self. Michelle, Brent and Karen, we know your current pain is hard to bear but will slowly give way to the fond memories of your Mom.
    May God bless you all

I have been looking for John Shanley. He worked for Pembina Pipeline, and was a God send for me and my sister when our parents were killed in a car accident many years ago. I have never thanked him personally for his kindness and generosity.

I also offer my condolences in the loss of your loved one. My deepest sympathy.
