January 25, 1930 – May 5, 2010

It is with great sadness that the family of Bernice Shalanski announce her sudden passing at her home in Calgary on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the age of 80 years.

Bernice is survived by her son Gordon; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kerren, Cindy and Dean, Nancy and Norm and daughter-in-law Karen; and eight grandchildren, Nicole, Jessica, Megan, Krista, Alex, Matthew, Shane and Jodi. She is also survived by her close cousins Barry, Eva, R.B. and Olive; long-time friends Nellie, Del and Helen; and her many “grandpets” who will miss her treats and cuddles.

A Celebration of Bernice’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

Our family would like to express our deepest condolences to Bernice’s family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Bernice has been a wonderful next door neighbor and we will miss her dearly. She was a suurogate grandmother to our daughter, Julianna and always had a pat or a cookie for our dog, Mabel. We always felt safe knowing our house and neighborhood were under her watchful eye!
    May she rest in peace.

  5. Delphine Westergard :

Bernice was an important part of my life. I knew her when she lived on the Dairy Farm with Granny and her uncles. My husband and I stood up for her when she married and they stood up for us when we married. I will miss talking to her on the phone and seeing her when Kerren would come to town. Our love goes to her family. Take care, Delphine and Orla
